Dr. Courtney Heldreth is a social psychologist and a senior user experience researcher at Google Research. She co-leads the People and AI Research for the next billion users (PAIR NBU), which is a team that conducts culturally embedded research to understand the risks and opportunities of AI for people in the developing world. Dr. Heldreth also leads an exploratory effort that is focused on how AI can help improve the lives of small, local farming in the global South. Her team is primarily focused on incorporating farmers’ needs, practices, value systems, social worlds, and daily agricultural ecosystem realities into the products Google builds.
